Coach's Code of Ethics (ICC)
I will conduct myself in a manner that reflects positively on coaching as a profession and will refrain from doing anything that could harm the acceptance or understanding of coaching as a profession.
I will identify my level of coaching competence as far as my ability allows, and I will not overestimate my qualifications, expertise, or experience.
I will ensure, from the start of each coaching relationship, that my client understands the terms of the coaching agreement between us.
I will not promise results that I cannot guarantee.
Under no circumstances will I take advantage of my client in a sexual, personal, or financial manner.
I will respect the confidentiality of my client's information unless authorized by them or required by law.
I will obtain authorization from each of my clients before disclosing their name as clients or references.
I will be alert to any signs that my client is no longer benefiting from our coaching relationship and will suggest that they switch to another colleague or resource that might be more beneficial.
I will avoid conflicts between my interests and those of my client. When the potential for a conflict arises, I will periodically discuss the conflict with my client to reach an agreement on how it will be handled in a manner that benefits my client.
I will periodically disclose to my client any compensation that I receive from third parties who come to me by referral or advice from my client.
I will always honor each term of the agreements made with my client and/or with anyone else who compensates me for coaching my client.
I will not provide my clients with any information or advice about prospective clients when I am aware that this information is confidential or beyond my competence.
I will acknowledge the work and contributions of others, respect copyright, trademarks, and intellectual property rights, and act in accordance with applicable laws and my agreements regarding these rights. At no time will I use the logos of ICT or another institution without prior written authorization.
